In 2007 the Government set out its vision for sustainable waste management in the UK. Key to its declared strategy was the diversion of biodegradable municipal waste from landfill. One of the key steps towards realising the challenging targets set out in the Governments Landfill Directive will be ensuring that as much of our household waste is reused (or its components recycled) as is environmentally and economically viable.
For over a decade Hopkins Recycling Ltd has been working in partnership with Hampshire County Council at the heart of local communities to manage the reuse and recycling of the county\x92s household waste.
Hopkins managed facilities receive over 4 million visitors per year and the close partnership between the company and Hampshire County Council ensures that many sites achieve recycling rates of over 60%, ultimately driving down landfill usage and saving energy.
At the heart of the Hopkins culture is a passion for recycling innovation and a desire to build relationships which enable the reduction of the carbon footprint.
