Hopkins Recycling Ltd was founded in 1993 by Christina Hopkins, Kevin Hopkins and David Jones who recognised the opportunity to make recycling facilities more efficiently and commercially run afforded by the UK Government’s 1992 prohibition of Councils from running waste disposal facilities.
The Directors of Hopkins Recycling Ltd understand all aspects of the recycling partnership from the ground up thanks to their individual backgrounds within the industry encompassing hands-on experience of the physical day-to-day running of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) alongside more in-depth knowledge of local council objectives, policies and procedures.
From 1993 to 1998 Hopkins Recycling Ltd successfully managed 11 of Hampshire’s HWRC’s. Consequently, in 1998 the organisation took on another 4 sites taking its tally to 15. The company has continued to deliver operational excellence and superior customer care in combination with its commitment to the health & safety of its staff and the general public. In recognition of this, Hampshire County Council awarded Hopkins Recycling Ltd the management contract for 23 of its 24 HWRC facilities from January 2008. In October 2009 Hampshire County Council awarded the contract for its 24th HWRC to Hopkins Recycling Ltd. In addition to this the company took over the management of HWRCs for both Southampton and Portsmouth City Councils meaning that all 26 HWRCs in the county are currently managed by Hopkins Recycling Ltd.
Hopkins Recycling Ltd prides itself on being a local company that is known and trusted thanks to its flexibility and common sense approach supported by a loyal team of site agents. The operation of Hampshire’s HWRC’s is the organisation’s prime business and its combination of management strength and extensive operational experience allow it to be customer focused, responsive, innovative and creative.
The management and staff of Hopkins Recycling remain absolutely committed to achieving operational excellence and superior customer service alongside providing ongoing support to local governing bodies. In the longer term the organisation will seek new partnerships to allow it to contribute more significantly to the enhancement of local environments.
